A trail that crosses forgotten places, where nature reclaims spaces once inhabited and alive.
The journey begins at Rifugio Bianchet, descending along Val Vescovร via the CAI trail 503, a gentle and shaded stretch where the forest grows dense and the sound of water accompanies each step.
Once at the valley floor, a short section along the Stanga road leads to La Muda, where a pedestrian bridge crosses the Cordevole. Keeping the stream to the right, the trail reaches the area near Torner, where it crosses the Cordevole once again before returning for a few minutes along the main road, until the CAI trail 541 entrance appears on the left. From here, an old military road begins; a broken stele dated 1915 emerges from the bushes like a voice rising from the past.
The ascent leads to Roit, a small village almost entirely abandoned. The ruined houses speak of forgotten lives, and the silence here is deep and thick. The path continues along CAI 541A, descending to a fork. From here, the trail markers are left behind to follow an unmarked path until reaching Noach, another silent witness of a bygone era.
The last bridge over the Cordevole brings us back to Valle Imperina, a place steeped in history and labor. Copper was mined here since Roman times; by the 1400s, documents recorded its importance; in the 20th century, mining activity was at its peak. Visitors can still explore tunnels, smelting furnaces, and an exhibit that gives voice to the miners and engineers of the past.
The hostel, housed in an 18th-century building once used as workersโ dormitories, now welcomes tired but amazed travelers.
From Rifugio Bianchet, we follow trail 503, which in 2 hours (9 km) leads us through Val Vescovร and down to Val del Cordevole in the area of Pinei.
Here, we walk a short stretch along the regional road 203 Agordina โ just 1.2 km of asphalt โ before entering one of the wildest areas of the park. Near La Muda (where you can stop for lunch at Ristoro San Martino), we cross the Cordevole on a pedestrian bridge that brings us to the locality of Agre.
From the junction at Agre, we follow the river upstream until we reach a second bridge, which takes us across to the Torner area. From here, we initially follow trail 541, and then at the fork, we take trail 541a. We follow it all the way to Cancellade.
From there, we continue on the paved road โ first via delle Cancellade, then via Noach โ passing through the village of Noach. Finally, we reach the bridge that leads to the Valle Imperina mining center and the youth hostel, where we can spend the night.
